Name: Kalia

Hi everyone! My name is Kaila, and I’m originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States. I came to Spain a few years ago because I wanted to experience living abroad, learn about a new culture, and step outside of my comfort zone. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to live and teach in different cities throughout Spain.

I studied Biology at university and am TEFL certified, but teaching English has become a really special part of my experience here. I’ve worked with children of different ages, and I love watching students become more comfortable, confident, and grow in speaking English. I’m also learning Spanish myself, so I understand how challenging and rewarding learning another language can be!

Outside of school, I love travelling, hiking, going to the gym, listening to music, and meeting people from different cultures. In the classroom, I hope to make English something students are excited to learn through games, music, conversations, and creative activities. Most importantly, I want my students to feel comfortable participating, making mistakes, and having fun while learning. I’m really excited to get to know everyone and see what this school year brings!

Name: Grace

This is my second year teaching in Madrid, and I have loved every second of it. I came to Madrid for the first time to study abroad and fell in love with the culture and city. I moved back to Madrid after graduating university in 2025, where I studied English and Spanish literature. Living and teaching abroad allows me to experience new things, such as different cultures, different languages, and meeting cool and interesting people. I love meeting new people and going out in Madrid, whether for a coffee with friends or trying a new restaurant solo.

Growing up, I went to a small private school in Cincinnati, Ohio, where we started learning a language at the age of 5. Colegio Montserrat reminds me of my school, and I am excited to experience this year with the students! I hope to spark that joy of learning a language in my students like it was sparked in me at a young age, and plan to do this through songs and games.
